Master Secret 10 - Know That You Become What You Think About Most

"People feel they’re successful when they earn a lot of money. However, you can only earn a lot of money, once you’re successful at what you do."  Earl Nightingale

Master Secret: Know you'll become what you think about most.

Strategy:  Vigilantly monitor the internal and external dialogue.

About Earl Nightingale: . Earl wanted to know the reason why some men ended up successful in life, while others ended up broke. Both were given the same amount of time to “make the grade” financially, yet the puzzle that perplexed Earl was the extreme variation in outcome. In his audio recordings, Earl revealed “The Strangest Secret in the World” contending, of course, that it's no secret at all. His research led him to the unarguable fact that a man becomes what he thinks about most. It is incredible that something so simple on the surface can have such a profoundly deep influence on shaping our future.

So, in light of Earl's ethos, we need to focus and ask ourselves some hard, honest questions.

Lets begin;

  1. What are we doing with our lives today that can move us into doing what we love tomorrow?
  2. Is our thinking in-line with our goals, or do our thoughts drift most of the time?
  3. How can we get our thoughts consistently back on track to achieving our goals?
  4. Do we get hooked into negative conversation and continue the cycle?
  5. Can we do away with any type of news program, negative people or situations that consistently keep us down-trodden?
  6. Are we re-living a past transgression over and over again?
  7. Are we going through it or growing through it?
  8. How can we shift to an “it’s possible” mindset in regards to achieving our dreams?

If you can honestly answer these questions, then you’re on track to achieving anything you want. First things first: We need to be honest with ourselves about how much we want our goals and the amount of work needed to get there.

I've always believed, as I hope you have, that there’s something incredible within each of us that is just waiting to be awakened. This part of us wants to be talking, knowing, doing and feeling exactly the way we feel is right in our core being. A key to achieving this is to first expand our "possibility barrier"; that is, to gear our mind towards what’s indeed possible for us to accomplish. We need to come to the realisation that the thoughts we’ve been thinking so far are limited in terms of living our purpose. There is a much larger Universe within us, just waiting to be unveiled. When we begin to accept there’s much more available for us than what we’ve been receiving, we start to feel a yearning that wants to be more of "that". That’s when we begin to discover how strongly we've been created and how wonderful life truly is. We become extremely grateful that we have the opportunity to make wonderful things happen within our own existence and within the lives of others.

At this point, we start to realise there’s nothing more powerful than a made-up mind. Directing our thoughts in any chosen direction forms only part of the equation, but when we grasp the fact that every time we speak, we’re also steering our ship towards a specific harbour, it's an incredible realisation. Our thoughts quickly link and manifest into our reality, so one must be careful what one thinks about and talks about every minute of the day. The trap that explains why most of us go nowhere is that we counter-play the positive momentum with negative self-talk. For example: "I’d really like to have a million dollar annual income, but I know I'll never get there." Or, "I want a person to love me for me, but I know he doesn’t exist." Or, my favourite, "I want to change the world, but I don’t think I need to change myself." Yet, the only way we can change the world is to change ourselves.

Beware of who and what you decide to spend your time with. There’s a transfer of time and energy happening every second.

Transference of time happens every day, without us realising it. Some of the more popular transfers are: transferring time for money, time for helping another, time for dedicating yourself to a cause, time for patience, time for loved ones, etc. Time is our true currency; not money. And it's one way—forward moving.

The most prominent time transfer is the invisible energetic exchange when two or more people invest time together. So, we must be extremely mindful about with whom we decide to spend time. All people carry with them an energy field that is an accumulation of their life experience and their thoughts of the world, so you’re exchanging your time for that energy. I then ask: How can I genuinely serve this person in front of me? Or, are they only interested in telling me how their crazy circus is orchestrated?

Our environment plays a large part in beginning to understand the fact that we become what we think about. With whom are you surrounding yourself ? Is it a toxic energy, or is it complementary to the life you want to live? Do you feel tough decisions need to be made?
